Tormead School, located in Guildford, is an independent girls’ school with high academic expectations and a strong history of success in both public examinations and university applications. The school began its one-to-one iPad implementation with Sixth Form girls in 2012; now, all teaching staff and girls from Year 5 upwards use iPad as a core learning and teaching tool across the campus. Apps including Showbie, Explain Everything, Quizlet and Kahoot are part of the girls’ daily learning experience, as is the electronic planner which allows them to manage their diaries and homework. Digital Leaders from amongst the pupil body promote the use of IT throughout the school, producing videos to inform and educate parents which appear on the school website. iTunes U and iBooks Author are also increasingly used within the school, after their early adoption by the History and Science departments. As an Apple Regional Training Centre, Tormead now delivers training to schools across Surrey.
